FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management System
In 2012, the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) recognized the FSSC 22000 scheme as a viable alternative to existing IFS or BRC schemes. GFSI is a global association of various stakeholders in the food industry, including major companies like METRO GROUP, CARREFOUR, ROYAL AHOLD, DANONE, COCA-COLA, KRAFT FOODS, and more.
The FSSC 22000 scheme is built on the international standard ISO 22000, ensuring broad international acceptance and facilitating the expansion of certification on a global scale.
The FSSC 22000 scheme allows for the certification of:
- Food manufacturers – The FSSC 22000 scheme for production includes ISO 22000 + ISO/TS 22002-1
- Food packaging manufacturers – The FSSC 22000 scheme for packaging includes ISO 22000 + ISO/TS 22002-4
- Retail and wholesale food businesses(supermarkets, hypermarkets, grocery stores, bakeries, butchers, etc.) – The FSSC 22000 scheme for retail includes ISO 22000 + BSI/PAS 221
- Food transport and storage service providers – The FSSC 22000 scheme for logistics includes ISO 22000 + ISO/TS 22002-5:2019
- Catering service providers – The FSSC 22000 scheme for catering includes ISO 22000 + ISO/TS 22002-2
